ara Nixon began dancing in her hometown of Westchester, NY, where she was fortunate to work with NYC artists such as Kyle Abraham and Earl Mosely at a young age through Evolve Dance. She received her BFA degree from SUNY the College at Brockport, where she studied closely with Bill Evans, Mariah Maloney, and Karl Rogers. Lara has performed at Jacob’s Pillow Inside/Out Festival, the Apollo Theater, the Ailey Citigroup Theater, ACDFA, and at the American Dance Festival, among others. She has studied with Shen Wei Dance Arts, Doug Varone & Dancers, and Trisha Brown Dance Company. She currently lives and works in Manhattan for a scent marketing company that develops fragrances for ambient diffusion, in addition to remaining active in the dance and yoga community.
